Nordemann trade show product launch for BAU 2023: Fully glazed F30 fire resistant barrier in custom sizes Like all our products, the new glass partition exhibited at BAU 2023 is manufactured individually to your specifications. Within the individual components, glazed areas of up to 1600 mm wide and 3500 mm high are feasible. Unlimited lengths can be achieved by connecting the individual glasses with silicone butt joints. Corner details are also possible with the glazed partition, with angles between 90 and 180 . For the ceiling and wall fittings you can choose between a solid wood solution and direct fixing with stainless steel brackets. If fitted with stainless steel brackets, the face dimension is 25 mm to maximise transparency. The solid wood version comes with a face width of 38 mm including glazing bead.
Flexibly combinable with block frames and fire doors
With a view to flexible interior design, the new glazed partition can be combined with our block frames and particularly with the Nordemann fire doors. Our CE-certified all-glass door Meridian, a single-leaf fire door T30 RS, offers a highly transparent solution. Alternatively, you could consider the Magellan solid wood-framed door (single or double-leaf). It also has a T30 RS fire and smoke rating and is distinguished an exceptionally slim frame width. We also produce our fire doors to your requirements which allows more architectural freedom in terms of design and dimensions.

Newsletter 03/22 September 2022: Energy – Fire protection in conservation – Wood-based material
Dear Readers
Increasing inflation, an uncertain supply situation and energy prices at record levels – the overall economic conditions are currently anything but favourable. Almost every industry is working at full speed on solutions that will secure the operational business in the best possible way and limit costs, which are primarily driven by energy prices. As a wood processing company we have a significant advantage here: The production generates wood chips that can be used to generate energy. Years ago, our systems for heating and process heat were converted to the climate-friendly energy source wood, primarily for environmental reasons. A decision which has paid off today in three ways – from a sustainability point of view, in relation to extensive self-sufficiency and in terms of limiting our cost structures. Moreover, we are currently making a small contribution to the general security of supply by foregoing natural gas. According to forecasts, the strains in the energy sector will probably continue for some time to come. Energy-saving initiatives thus remain the order of the day and opportunities should be grasped wherever they arise.
Best regards

The past becomes the future
On 11 September it was that time again: The Day of the Open Monument, Germany’s largest cultural event, drew attention to the country’s numerous listed buildings. According to estimates, there are about 660,000 listed buildings, which collectively account for about 3 per cent of the total building stock. The contemporary witnesses to past eras are values worth preserving. After all, historic buildings can be made fit for the future and continue to take on a variety of tasks, perhaps as a museum, educational establishment or events venue. To maintain historic structures so that they remain authentic but still meet modern requirements is complex and costly. Off-the-peg solutions are rarely feasible. To make the projects a success, we use all our expertise in the fields of fire protection and bespoke special solutions. For example, at the Weiden Clinic in Bavaria, where Nordemann produced glazed partitions with pointed arches. The required dimensions for the partitions, some of which also have doors, were measured digitally, transferred for processing on our IT system and then transmitted directly to computer controlled production machines. It is a modern process which not only yields millimetre precision in demanding renovations, whilst simultaneously opening up time and cost advantages.
Focus on wood-based materials
Whether partitions or commercial doors: Without exception, Nordemann frame elements consist of solid wood. To ensure maximum quality, we prefer to process triple-laminated wood. The continuous top lamella conceals several wood scantlings that are bonded together in layers. The layered structure provides a significant quality enhancement, because during the manufacture of laminated profiles, wood sections with natural defects such as knotholes or resin spots are discarded. In parallel, the most aesthetically suitable wood can be used for the visible top lamella. As far as our products are concerned, this results in numerous advantages. So for example, the surfaces of the frame elements appear much more harmonious. The layered structure of the wood also increases the dimensional stability, durability and resilience of the components. Furthermore, the ply construction material allows any desired length in one piece, which opens up additional flexibility regarding the dimensions of our products. So all in all, a choice of material that offers you distinct advantages.

Newsletter 02/22 September 2022: Young talent – glazing beads – Production
Dear Readers
Competent staff are a decisive factor of success. However, finding and recruiting them for the company is becoming increasingly challenging. In the first quarter of this year, the shortage of qualified staff reached a new peak of 558,000 vacancies. It is becoming increasingly apparent that those who want to secure the future must break the mould and more than ever invest in in-house training. If you want to secure the future, you need to go down new paths and invest more than ever in in-house training. The in-house qualification of junior staff has always played an important role for Nordemann. About a fifth of today’s staff came to us via our training activities. A quota which is to be further increased. We already increased the number of apprenticeships during the pandemic. Partnerships with universities are now providing a further impetus. Together with the universities of applied sciences of Rosenheim and East Westphalia-Lippe, we are now offering dual study programmes in wood engineering as well joinery apprenticeships. The additional training model has triple benefits – for the career starters, for our company and for you as customer. That is because proximity to the universities not only provides highly qualified specialists, but also an increase in Nordemann expertise, which reflects the latest technology and scientific standards. With this in mind: Here’s to the future.

Focus on glazing beads
One of the critical places in glazed solid wood frame elements is the transition between frame and glass. Here is where it is decided whether or not the combination of the two materials is convincing from both technical and aesthetic points of view. In order to provide optimal solutions to both aspects, Nordemann relies on sophisticated features. So for our glazed fire doors and T30 fixed glazed panels, we use glazing beads with concealed tongues which enable a concealed fixing. The glazing beads are already cut to length in the factory for quick and easy installation. Combined with the pre-installed dry sealant this brings significant advantages: During the glazing process the glazing beads can be handled directly. They do not need to be trimmed or sealed, which makes for easier workflows and clear time advantages.

To achieve both high quality and efficient production requires efficient process flows and modern woodworking systems. The Nordemann production areas comprise about 8,000 m², enough space for a comprehensive machinery pool including a 5-axis CNC machining centre. We will be pleased to show you round our production facilities during a personal visit to Rietberg. If you don’t have the time to do that, you can now also get to know the production virtually. Just click on Tour and move digitally and independently through our premises on Google Maps. Alternatively, you can still find the Nordemann corporate video on YouTube. It’s worth having a look!

Newsletter 01/22 March 2022: Supply chains – Security – Sustainability
Dear Readers
What began with a shortage of microchips for car production has now spread to numerous sectors of the economy. Primary products and raw materials are now no longer available in unlimited quantities. According to the German Economic Institute, three-quarters of the companies were already affected to such an extent that production losses occurred in the last quarter of 2021. The rate is probably even higher now. Our industry is also not immune to the shortage. Wood is in short supply, even beech, which is native to us here in Germany. Delivery times for paints and metal components have lengthened considerably. This immediately prompts the question as to the status of our ability to deliver. Let me give you the answer straight away: Yes, procurement is not running smoothly for us at present. But we have made provisions. Months ago, procurement management was already given top priority and significantly optimised. We diversified our supplier base at an early stage, increased stock levels in all areas and continuously develop options for a secure supply through systematic market screening. So even in these times, we are fast and nimble for you, in all product areas.
Best regards
Ulrich Schöpp Managing Director
Safety is the foremost priority
Safety first – At Nordemann, this guiding principle applies not only to fire protection, but also to all other product segments. So for example, for our T0 solid wood frame elements we use laminated safety glass with an overall thickness of 8 mm as a standard. The two flat glass panes are bonded via a tear-resistant film, which ensures high stability and, if the worst comes to the worst, secure shatter proofing. For painted or veneered components, we chamfer all edges with a three-millimetre radius and, with this chamfer radius, go even further than the German safety requirements for day-care centres. Should you have a particular question about out safety standards please contact us. We will be pleased to inform you.
Sustainable on a large and small scale
Responsible corporate governance manifests itself in many ways; sustainability aspects are an essential part of this. Climate protection, species protection and the conservation of natural resources are important values for us. This is why Nordemann is also certified according to the strict FSC® and PEFC™ criteria. In our production facilities, we strive for exemplary energy efficiency and use electricity from renewable sources. Apart from these and many other measures, we also use unconventional methods to make the world a little better. Did you know, for example, that our premises are home to bee colonies, and that we have planted dedicated fruit trees to feed them? Ecology and economy are not contradictory.

Newsletter 02/21 November 2021: ARCHITECT@WORK – Retrofitting partitions
Dear Readers
Digital communication is an essential pillar of day-to-day business. But it cannot completely replace face-to-face conversation. That was also demonstrated by the ARCHITECT@WORK trade fair in Düsseldorf. Around 3,350 visitors took advantage of the industry event to reconnect in the real world after the covid-related restrictions, to exchange ideas, to make contacts and to gather new ideas. The response to our T30 fire doors, which were launched during the trade fair, exceeded our expectations. Both the Meridian all-glass door and the Magellan framed door were very well received by the professional audience, which we also consider to be a confirmation of our development work in fire protection. If you were not able to visit the Nordemann stand at the trade fair, I am taking this opportunity to cordially invite you to a personal conversation. Just give us a call or drop in. We look forward to meet you.
Best regards
Ulrich Schöpp Managing Director
Retrofitting made easy
Times are changing and so are the requirements. It is not uncommon for a fire door with fixed side panels to require the retrofitting of an electric strike. This usually means that the entire construction has to be dismantled and sent back to the factory to create a cable guide for the necessary power supply. Not at Nordemann. Our fire protection elements have a factory-fitted ducts, which can be easily and quickly used –by you on site – should the need later arise. So you remain flexible, are prepared for all eventualities and because retrofitting eliminates the need for return transport to the factory, you save time and money.

ARCHITECT@WORK Düsseldorf 2021
At the end of October the industry meets at ARCHITECT@WORK in Düsseldorf. The event, which is aimed exclusively at the trade audience, convinces with an unusual concept: Only products that can demonstrate a particular innovative value are exhibited. A jury of architects and interior designers decides whether a product is sufficiently innovative to be worthy of presentation. We shall be there at booth 138 with our fire doors and will be presenting the Meridian all-glass door (T30-1-RS-FSA) and the Magellan framed door (T30-1/2-RS-FSA). Come and visit us and take the opportunity for an informative exchange of ideas in a personal conversation.
Date: 27 and 28 October 2021
Venue: Messe Düsseldorf – Exhibition Hall 8B
Opening times: 10:00 – 18:00
Stand: 138
Focus on dry glazing
With our Magellan framed door, wood and glass are connected using the dry glazing technique. Sealing between the glass and the frame profile is done on site with gaskets without the use of silicone, completely eliminating the need for wet sealing. The single-sided glazing beads are not bolted, avoiding the need for visible screw heads. In practice, dry glazing offers advantages that are particularly effective during the later assembly: Because the gasket is directly integrated in the glazing bead, further sealing is unnecessary. This simplifies operating procedures during installation and brings appreciable time advantages. During subsequent use, the Magellan excels through its high transparency. The narrowest frame widths of this fire door are only 78 mm. We manufacture single-leaf door leaves up to 2977 mm high and 1485 mm wide.

Under our own flag
In the area of fire doors, but also with fire/smoke-rated glazed transom partitions, for a long time Nordemann was present in the market exclusively as a supplier to third parties. Since this summer, we have been offering our product lines under our own flag. What this means for you: You can now order our products direct from us – with a quality proven over many years and with a high degree of flexibility, because as a manufacturer, we are able to manage our production processes in a customer-oriented manner. Not to mention your clear price advantage. Because we pass on the industry markup directly to you.

ARCHITECT@WORK Düsseldorf 2021

ARCHITECT@WORK Düsseldorf 2021
